Parenting Safe Children, LLC, Part II

Who Should Attend?

Parenting Safe Children, LLC Part II- a class for people who have attended Parenting Safe Children, LLC Part I.

Part II will be conducted in small groups limited to 12 people.

Participants will have the opportunity to share (optional) specific situations and practice appropriate responses to these situations.

Part II is not a therapy group, rather a time to give closer attention to issues discussed in Part I in a small group setting.

Each participant will choose their level of participation. No one will be required to role-play or speak in front of the group. This will be a safe and educational place to learn more about keeping children safe!

Topics Covered

Part II will focus on:

• the application of prevention strategies learned in Part I
• the practice of "teachable moments" and "what if" games
• teaching body safety rules to children discussed in Part I

Other topics discussed in depth include:

• secrets
• privacy
• forced affection
• telling
• teaching assertion to children while maintaining manners and respect

Materials/Fees

Take home materials include: guidelines for interviewing childcare providers, descriptors for age appropriate sexual behavior, identifiers of sexual abuse, resources, and more.
